Here's a step-by-step guide on how to connect to an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) connection in Windows, complete with descriptions of where you'd typically see visual elements.

Before You Begin:

  • Ensure Remote Desktop is Enabled on the Host Computer: The computer you want to connect to must have Remote Desktop enabled.
  • Obtain the IP Address or Computer Name of the Host: You'll need this to connect.
  • Have Valid Credentials: You'll need the username and password of an account on the host computer that has permission to connect via RDP.

Step 1: Open Remote Desktop Connection

  1. Press Windows Key + S to open search.

  2. Type “Remote Desktop Connection” and click the result.

?️

Step 2: Enter the Computer Name or IP Address

  • In the window that opens, type the IP address or PC name of the remote machine.

  • Click Connect.

?️

Step 3: Enter Your Credentials

  • When prompted, enter the username and password of the remote machine.

  • You may also be asked to trust the certificate — you can click Yes to continue.

?️

Step 4: You're In!

  • Once connected, you’ll see the remote desktop environment, and you can control it as if you were there.
